Andrei Stănescu

Andrei Stănescu (b. 2003) delves into the intersection of personal experience and broader societal themes. His artistic practice is deeply influenced by the visual narratives of his past, serving as a projection of his internalized experiences and observations. Stănescus work often centers around specific environments -such as casinos, stores and fast food burger joints —where he explores the stereotypes associated with these places, the people within them, and the defining moments that occur there.
Using digital modeling tools, he meticulously replicates and interprets these environments and their inhabitants, creating reference imagery that informs his paintings. This process imparts a synthetic quality to his work, reflecting the digital origins of his creations. While his art is rooted in his personal experiences, Stănescus work transcends the individual, addressing broader themes of human connection and societal dynamics. His paintings invite viewers to consider the complexities of the environments we inhabit and the roles we play within them, challenging preconceived notions and stereotypes.

Lovis Moos

Born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1983, Lovis Moos is a contemporary painter, sculptor and collage artist. She is recognized for her innovative approach to abstraction. Her works are exclusively presented in a square format, lending a unique visual coherence to her artistic output. Moos's oeuvre is distinguished by its exploration of themes related to focus, balance, clarity, inner peace, and the infusion of positive energy. Through abstract tableaus, she endeavors to evoke a sense of harmony and tranquility, inspired by the nuances of everyday life and the beauty of nature. Noteworthy among her projects is an ongoing exploration of geometric motifs, wherein Moos skillfully employs precise compositions and bold color choices to evoke a sense of serenity and order. Her works resonate with viewers seeking moments of contemplation and introspection amidst the complexities of the modern world.

Julia Prugger

Julia Prugger (*1998) grew up in Bolzano, Italy. She studied Printmaking at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. Currently, she lives and works in Gröden, Italy.
Julia Prugger focuses on the significance of spaces where people come together and experience a shared reality, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and others. She explores the growing importance of such places in an increasingly individualistic society and how new media and technologies are transforming these spaces by influencing our perspectives, interpersonal relationships, and public discourse.
For the residency project in Biel, she placed lacquered metal plates in various locations. As people walk over these plates, the lacquer is worn away in certain areas. In the next step, she lays a fabric soaked in acid over these plates; wherever the metal has been exposed, a reaction occurs, causing the oxidized material to adhere to the fabric, revealing the traces left by the usage of these spaces.
The goal is to archive the traces of public spaces and reflect on their use and the movements within them. Which identity do these traces reveal?
How do we present ourselves in public? What remains as we move through public spaces, and what do we contribute to them? How are places enlivened and utilized? What encounters occur, and which ones are missed? Over time, an expanded image of the community emerges.
